Some of the complainants attended the hearing and took the stand to tell about their suffering. They said that they had paid for the apartments in 2007 with the promise that they would get their title deeds in January 2008 - a promise which has not been fulfilled.
One of the complainants said to the reporters: "The problem between the landlord and the contactor victimized 103 people. We are 57 people out of that 103 who have filed a court case."The plaintiff's lawyer Sevim Gündoğan said the hearing would be resumed on May 23 2011.
Contractor Company Didim Design Group's partner İbrahim Soylu spoke to the reporters while leaving the court house: He said: "Our company used to have three partners: Mehmet Oklaç, Hasan Tahsin Abalı and I.
I was in charge of the construction sites. Hasan Tahsin Abalı was individually authorized in any monetary transactions and the money was in his account. "He has currently 3 million 554 thousand TL in his debit as determined by the court but he is nowhere to be found."Soylu said that the British could not get their title deeds as the landlord was not paid. He said: "There are three parties in this court case: the British clients, landlord Ahmet Akyel and Didim Design (Dizayn) Group. "The British have paid the Didim Design Group but since Abalı has vanished, we could not pay the landlord. The landlord needs to get one and a half million pounds." |
